Bray Head is a 241-metre-high coastal hill in northern County Wicklow, Ireland, between the towns of Bray and Greystones. It is part of the Wicklow Mountains and is a popular hiking destination.
A cross was erected on the summit of the hill in the anniversary year of 1950, to which a religious procession is held on Good Friday. There is a railway designed by Isambard Brunel running through the coastal cliffs.
On March 16th, we had our first group hike to Bray Head Mountain
It was a wonderful sunny and windless day, which is not so common in Ireland 🙂
We quickly climbed to the top of the mountain, from where we had magnificent views of the sea, neighboring mountains and the surroundings of the coastal town of Bray.
There were a lot of people and paragliders on the mountain that day, after all, it was St. Patrick’s Eve.
After climbing Bray Head, our plans changed a little and we decided to go down a more difficult path, but very picturesque – a closed tourist trail along the cliffs, which passes above the railway. It is safely equipped with fences that prevent accidental falls from the cliff, it is wide enough, but at the very end it has some kind of funny obstacle 😉 – a 2-meter fence with sharp peaks on top, which makes it impossible to climb through the top. Therefore, this obstacle is passed by all tourists …. from below ))
The reason for the closure of the popular tourist trail in Brey is that several years ago local authorities decided that there was a danger of rocks falling onto the trail from the adjacent cliffs, but nevertheless, people walk in dozens, and on weekends and holidays in hundreds. It is, as they say, at your own risk. But we took the risk and did not regret it! The views there are truly amazing!
The route as a whole turned out to be rich and interesting, beautiful views of the mountains, sea and rocks. Seagulls, paragliders and a cheerful company 🙂
Thank you all very much for coming, and also, heroically withstood all the obstacles on the way :)! We are waiting for everyone on the next trip!
